DO I SOCIALISE MY DOG OR DO I WANT MY DOG TO IGNORE OTHER DOGS?
At SA Dog Trainers, we spend a lot of time teaching your canine to rather ignore other dogs & humans. Your dog must be focussing on you especially since we will be teaching him & you to be attentive to one another. This will keep you both safe in various other surroundings.
However, we will have classes where you and other humans & canines are present where they can socialise by sniffing each other, but only if you are both prepared to take this step.
All dogs must be on a lead since the venue does not allow dogs without leads.
Once you have your canine’s full attention / focus on you, it will be a pleasure for both of you to go out.
At SA Dog Trainers you will find that we limit barking – this will take time and therefore when your dog comes out of your car take a few minutes to get his focus on you before entering the arena.
The more distractions your dog encounters while walking on your practice days, the better they will be at ignoring other dogs.
